At the Hierarchy of Hope Institute, we believe that every individual, regardless of where they are on the mental health continuum, has the potential to achieve their goals, be mentally well, and live an inspired life. We use evidence-based techniques in our workbooks to help you overcome self-doubt, anxiety, and other mental health challenges that may be holding you back. We specialize in providing an alternative in treating trauma, addiction, chronic stress, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and other mental health concerns. Our goal is to empower your clients to take control of their lives and achieve their goals.
We have conducted research that has been extremely impactful. While conducting research to determine whether hope could be taught, John Liptak found that it could be taught to enhance people's attitudes, perspectives, and outlooks by teaching a hope-based process grounded in Positive Psychology principles that helps clients move beyond their concerns. Interestingly, John found that when taught these principles, research subjects showed increases in hope, happiness, and resilience in the face of stress, trauma, and anxiety.
The Hierarchy of Hope process relies on five powerful mental wellness habits to help clients develop a lifestyle that enables them to experience what Psychologist Abraham Maslow called Plateau Experiences. He said that while Peak Experiences are intense, sudden moments of ecstasy, Plateau Experiences are more stable, enduring, and developed through a conscious process. John and Michelle have found and researched this process. The Hierarchy of Hope formula includes:
1. Find meaning, purpose, and coherence.
2. Engage and become absorbed in the flow process.
3. Accomplish goals to develop new skills and enhance self-esteem.
4. Ensure relationships are positive, supportive, and healthy.
5. Take control of the controllable and adopt an empowering attitude.
